Scientist/ Senior Scientist

Adlyfe Inc. is a privately held biotechnology company in Rockville MD that was formed in 2003. Located in the Maryland Biotech Corridor near I-270, we are developing innovative products for early diagnosis and effective treatment of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's. We have developed a novel method utilizing our proprietary Pronucleon™ ligands to detect and amplify amyloid protein targets associated with these devastating diseases.

We are currently looking to add outstanding candidates to our team developing commercial diagnostic assays for early detection of disease. We are recruiting for an individual with experience in the fields of peptide physical chemistry, immunoassays such as ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunoprecipitation, protein characterization work such as SDS PAGE, general biochemistry, and neurodegeneration peptides, at the Scientist/ Senior Scientist level. As a key person on this team, you will take a hands-on approach, including laboratory work, to transition the company's technology to an in vitro diagnostic assay.

Requirements

Qualified candidates should possess the following skills:

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, protein chemistry, structural biology, neurobiology, immunology, cell biology, or related fields
  • Specific experience in the fields of immunoassays such as ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunoprecipitation, protein characterization work such as SDS PAGE, peptide conformation characterization such as circular dichroism, amyloidogenic proteins characterization especially hydrophobic amyloid peptides are preferred
  • Other advantageous skills include: clinical sample handling, CSF based assay development, brain tissue section staining, knowledge of the use of fluorescence detection instrumentation
  • Demonstration of scientific excellence and accomplishment
  • High degree of self-motivation and innovation
  • Aptitude for both experimental design and interpretation
  • Strong technical and organizational skills with an adeptness at achieving accurate and consistent results
  • Ability to both perform independent research and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous industrial experience with in vitro diagnostic assay development is highly desirable, but not required
