Adlyfe's Blood Diagnostic Technology Presented at the World Health Organization Consultation in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland, September 14-16, 2005 - The World Health Organization held a consultation of global experts in the field of Transmissible Spongiform Encephelopathy (TSE) disease transmission on September 14-16 to review the latest findings regarding the distribution of infectivity in tissues and body fluids and to determine if there are any additional risks to human health. Based on recent progress in development of Adlyfe's sensitive and specific test for these diseases including Mad Cow (BSE), Sheep Scrapie, and Creutzfeldt-Jacob (CJD) disease in humans, Adlyfe was one of five technology companies invited to present to the expert panel.

Dr. Cindy S. Orser, VP of Research and Development, reported on the status of Adlyfe's Misfolded Protein Diagnostic (MPD) Assay and reviewed recent data collected in both animal and human disease demonstrating detection of misfolded prions in blood. As a result of the consultation, the information presented will be analysed to provide the scientific evidence to support the updating of the WHO Recommendations on TSEs in relation to Biological and Pharmaceutical Products, including an update to the tissue infectivity tables which were published in 2003 (http://www.who.int/bloodproducts/tse/en/).
